Lessons with Gunda
If you’re curious about the Alexander Technique, you can come for a first lesson just to find out more about it. Then, if you enjoy it, and want to go on to learn the Technique, you can take a course of lessons.
Gunda offers:
- One-on-one lessons
- Voice work
- Online lessons
- The option to join in with the Training course as a “Friend of the School”
One-on-one lessons
A lesson involves skilled hands-on work and verbal guidance, to give you an experience of moving in a different way from your norm.
Working in this way gently challenges and changes stuck habits of muscle tension and thought/nervous system processes so you can get back to natural ease and flow.
Regular lessons – gradually getting further apart – give you support as you learn to apply it to your everyday life.
- 50 minute session – £40 (£35 conc.)

“Gunda is a kind and hugely experienced teacher – I found her lessons to be life changing.”
– Catherine, Graphic Designer.
Voice Work

Gunda is particularly interested in Voice Work – and can guide you to reclaim the natural ease and resonance of your spoken voice.
The Alexander Technique approach to voice work is particularly helpful for you if you are an actor because it helps you to understand the muscle/brain connection in relation to reflex breathing, sound production, articulation, and effortless projection.
You can also benefit if you are a singer by changing unhelpful underlying habits of muscular tension. It makes a huge difference to work on the fundamentals of breathing and sound production as a foundation for the specific skills and techniques needed for singing.

Voice work is for everyone, not just actors and singers, since it is an activity we engage in daily.
In a voice work session Gunda helps you to reduce tension in your whole muscular system because your general state (psycho-physical unity) is so closely connected to breathing and sound production.
It’s wonderful to discover that, as your voice resonates without your habitual tension patterns, you also feel more confident, stop trying to get things ‘right’ and speaking becomes playful and expressive again.
60 minute Individual session – £45 (£40 conc.)
“Voicework with Gunda has been particularly transformative, changing long held habits to do with speaking, which were interfering with my natural voice and my communication with others. It’s been fascinating and fun to experiment and discover how my voice and breathing are so linked to my head-neck-back relationship and also to how I feel in myself.”
– Christina, Teacher.
Online Lessons
If it’s not possible to attend a lesson in person, the guidance and observational skills of the teacher can be useful in online lessons to help you recognise and address your own muscle tension and habits of thought.
Lessons online are slightly cheaper than in person, as they don’t involve the wonderful hands-on experience of learning A.T.
- A 50 minute individual online lesson costs £35 (£30 conc.)
Gunda sometimes offers online Continuing Professional Development Workshops.

Friends of the School
If you really enjoy learning the Technique and like the idea of connecting with others, you can become a “Friend of the School” on the Teacher Training Course.
This is for your personal interest and doesn’t mean you’re training to be a teacher. You can mix and match this with your one-on-one lessons. You just have to come to a minimum of four training sessions over a twelve week term (there is no maximum). You can also join in when guest teachers visit.
Occasionally someone who is a “Friend” decides to train as a teacher. If this happens, then the time you’ve already spent at the school counts towards the Training.
- £30 (3 hour session)
- £45 (5 hour session)
